Policies
Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement
JETLG follows the Core Practices and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Duties of authors
- Submit only original work that has not been published, and is not under consideration, elsewhere.
- Acknowledge all sources accurately; plagiarism, including self-plagiarism and duplicate publication, is not acceptable.
- List as authors only those who made a substantial contribution, and disclose all funding and conflicts of interest.
- Notify the editors promptly of any significant error discovered after submission or publication.
Use of generative AI
Given the journal’s subject, we hold a clear position on AI tools. Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors, as they cannot take responsibility for the work. Authors who use such tools for drafting, translation, editing or analysis must disclose the tool and the purpose in their declaration and remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality and citations of the manuscript. Using AI tools to support language editing is acceptable with disclosure; presenting AI-generated content as original scholarship is not. Editors and reviewers must not upload submitted manuscripts to AI tools.
Duties of editors
- Evaluate manuscripts solely on their intellectual merit, without regard to the authors’ race, gender, religion, nationality, institution, seniority or political views.
- Keep submissions confidential and recuse themselves from manuscripts where they have a conflict of interest.
- Handle submissions by members of the editorial team through an independent editor and the full peer review process.
Duties of reviewers
Reviewers must keep manuscripts confidential, declare conflicts of interest, give objective and constructive assessments, and alert the editors to any suspected plagiarism or misconduct. See our Peer Review Policy.
Plagiarism and misconduct
All submissions are screened for similarity. Allegations of plagiarism, data fabrication, citation manipulation or other misconduct will be investigated following COPE flowcharts, and may lead to rejection, correction or retraction.
Corrections and retractions
Published articles are part of the permanent scholarly record. Errors are addressed through a published correction; serious problems may lead to an expression of concern or retraction, which will be clearly linked to the original article and never silently removed.
Complaints and appeals
Authors may appeal an editorial decision or raise a complaint by writing to jetlg.journal@gmail.com, setting out their reasons. Appeals are considered by an editor not involved in the original decision.
